Opening Night | Apolitical Process

On Thursday, September 22nd RVCA and Purps were glad to present Apolitical Process.

A vision by Kelly Slater, Curated by PM Tenore.
Featuring Bruce Reynolds, Kevin Ancell and Todd Glaser.

This is an artistic journey through the chaotic and sometimes inflammatory 2016 election cycle. It is our aim to explore and expose the underlying truth, hypocrisy, danger, motivations, misinformation and effects of this process. It is our hope that the artwork produces thoughtful discussion, transparency and an openness to question the powers that be...

Apolitical Process will be on view through October 9th at Folding Table Gallery in Venice. 201 San Juan Ave (corner of Main St.), Venice, Ca 90291.

Recap | RVCA Presents 'Advance'

RVCA presented its European ANP show, ADVANCE, on September 7, 2016, at Darwin - Bordeaux, featuring the works of Ed Templeton, Andrea Do Souto, Ben Horton, Benjamin Jeanjean, Jerome Romain and Kevin "Spanky" Long.

In the presence of all artists except Long, over 350 people attended the launch event and we are already very honored to count thousands of visitors since the kick-off, thanks to the Ocean Climax festival that brought over 25,000 visitors to the Darwin location between Sep. 8 and 11.

With a mix of photography, paintings and illustrations from our advocates and ANP Artists, this first edition of what is already planned to become an annual Art show, enabled artists and amateurs to come together at one of France’s most fashionable locations and enjoy an authentic gathering of the community.

We would like to thank the artists for their work and presence, RVCA’s teams and partners, our hosts at l’atelier Les Mains Sales x Les Sauvages and you, fans, art-lovers, opinion-leaders, skate-culture aficionados…

The show runs till Sep. 28, 2016.

Kevin Ancell | Nos Vemos En Venecia

On Thursday evening, October 1st RVCA was proud to present the opening reception for ANP Artist Kevin Ancell's highly anticipated, first-ever solo show: 'Nos Vemos En Venecia', curated by RVCA Founder PM Tenore. The corner of Main Street and San Juan Avenue in Venice, California was a fitting location for the gallery opening, and more importantly, a homecoming for Kevin.

"The idea for Ancell's exhibition was easy. Over the last 15 years with RVCA and the Artist Network Program I have been privileged to curate and be surrounded with so many amazing and talented artists. Ranging from museum shows to pop ups in New York, Austin, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Hong Kong. I realized that my dear friend, who I was around more often than not had never had a proper solo show. In that moment we both looked at each other and decided that needed to change... We were going to create a show for him in Venice. It was time for Kevin to come full circle and share his art in the place that began to inform his work. His artistic ability is just the tip of the iceberg, Kev is a true renaissance man." -- PM Tenore

'Nos Vemos En Venecia' will be on view at 1320 Main St Venice, CA until October 15th.

Ed Templeton | Common Side Effects

Ed Templeton’s current exhibition at the Huntington Beach Art Center is an expansive survey of the artist’s work from the last several years to present. The show features some of his most iconic pictures, paintings, sculptures and mixed media pieces spread throughout the space in Templeton’s dynamic installation style. Dominating the show are his Teenage Kissers, The Seconds Pass, Wires Crossed and Huntington Beach series, which is an ongoing look into his backyard’s beach culture and suburban sprawl.

At the opening on September 12th, visitors stood in line for the show duration to get Ed’s drawings and musings scrawled across all sorts of ephemera, while listening to live music from bands Freckles and Travesura. Those in attendance were an amazing cross section of art-world aficionados to newbie fans, and local skate groms to pro-skate elite. Deadbeat Club hosted a ‘zine fair and food was catered by Seabirds Kitchen. Beverages were provided by PBR and all made possible with support from RVCA.

Common Side Effects will be on view through November 7th and also includes works by photographers Deanna Templeton, Nolan Hall, Grant Hatfield, Devin Briggs and Soncho Williams.
